GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — One person was arrested Tuesday morning after a high-speed pursuit throughout Greene County and Johnson City.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has noted that a white Chevrolet Sonic was traveling at 90 mph close to mile marker 47 on Interstate 81 in Greene County around 10:30 a.m.
The vehicle refused to stop for troopers and fled north on I-81, THP stated.
While the chase proceeded, it was reported that a citizen intervened by using their car to stop the fleeing Chevrolet near mile marker 17 on Interstate 26 in Washington County.
The Chevrolet then drove around the vehicle and continued towards exit 19.
At exit 19, multiple Johnson City Police Department units and THP troopers were set up with tire deflation devices, according to the report.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the bottom of the exit 19 ramp.
THP identified the driver as 52-year-old Tonya Richards, who was subsequently arrested and charged with felony evading arrest, speeding, and driving on a revoked license for the third time.
No injuries were reported.
