JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — On Thursday, a security guard at the William Donaldson Correctional Facility was taken into custody on charges of promoting contraband within the prison.
The Alabama Department of Corrections reported that they were alerted to suspicious behavior by Allied Universal security officer Aniki Jones at the facility. Jones was apprehended after she tried to evade a security check, during which she allegedly confessed to possessing marijuana.
The ADOC’s Law Enforcement Services Division conducted interviews and confiscated three packages of contraband. According to the ADOC, these packages included approximately 230 grams of marijuana, roughly 172 grams of methamphetamine, and an unidentified substance.
Jones was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. She was charged with promoting prison contraband, possession of marijuana and trafficking methamphetamine.
The ADOC stated the investigation is ongoing, and Jones may face more charges.
