Former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia praised President Trump just hours after leaving the position, which she held for only five days.
“President Trump is a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking man. I wish more Americans appreciated him,” Zacharia wrote on X. “No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to. It was an honor to work for him.”
Her post featured a photo of Zacharia smiling beside Trump as he sat at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. A map on the president’s desk was visible in the image, although its details had been blurred.
The post had drawn 7.2 million views by Saturday morning.
The rapid end of Zacharia’s tenure was also reflected in the post pinned to the top of her account on Oct. 9, which contained screenshots of Trump congratulating her on becoming press secretary.
She departed the role Friday after two uneasy television interviews on Fox News.
During an appearance Thursday on Sean Hannity’s program, the host said Zacharia’s first and only White House press briefing had been “widely panned.” He also questioned her decision to describe herself as an “attorney” after she failed to pass the California bar exam following law school.

The following morning, on “Fox & Friends,” Zacharia struggled to explain the administration’s talking points regarding the search of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) home. She also could not say when she would hold her next press briefing.
Hours later, Trump publicly suggested that she reconsider the position. Speaking to reporters before leaving the White House for a rally, he said, “I’ve watched her for years on television, but I said, ‘Is this for you, Katie? Because honestly, you don’t need this.’”
Zacharia’s departure does not appear to end her time in the administration. A source familiar with the matter said she would move into another role, and she was expected to have dinner Friday night with Vice President JD Vance.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Zacharia was meeting with the newspaper for a White House interview Friday when she was called away and told that her assignment had ended.
She did not return to the interview.
CNN commentator Scott Jennings, who is close to White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, is among those being discussed as a possible replacement.
When asked on air Friday whether he wanted the job, Jennings avoided a direct answer, saying, “I haven’t spoken to anybody about it tonight or today.”
