Five Charged, Including Former Guard, in Inmate’s Death Inside Texas Jail

Police in Colorado reportedly shot a Colorado man who called 911 after allegedly killing his in-laws.

ABC Denver 7 reported that early Friday morning, police received a 911 call concerning the death of a man’s in-laws. At the same time, family members requested a welfare check after the suspect sent a series of alarming text messages.

Officers arrived at a residence near Lofton Court and Kokai Circle in unincorporated Adams County, where they encountered the 51-year-old suspect outside with a knife. Efforts to subdue the suspect were unsuccessful.

“The deputies gave verbal directives to drop the knife. They allowed some space and tried to resolve the situation as safely as possible. They even used certain resources—taser deployments and soft pellets—to try to conclude the situation, but unfortunately, those methods were ineffective,” said Adams County Sheriff Sergeant Adam Sherman, according to CBS News.

The suspect was shot and rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Upon inspecting the home, police discovered the bodies of the deceased couple, both 79 years old.

The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Team is investigating the couple’s official cause of death, which is believed to be homicide.

Police said that no officers, neighbors, or other family members were harmed during the confrontation, according to ABC Denver 7.
