TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Authorities are seeking former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown on attempted murder charges linked to a celebrity boxing event in Miami last month.
Brown was apprehended by law enforcement following an altercation with several individuals at the May 16 event, hosted by well-known streamer Adin Ross.
The former football player later took to social media, claiming he was “jumped” by people attempting to steal his jewelry.
A warrant acquired by the Washington Post indicated that footage captured Brown striking a man and then grabbing a gun from a security guard before pursuing him. Police stated that the cellphone footage subsequently recorded the sound of two gunshots.
The victim was grazed in the neck by a bullet. A struggle ensued over the gun before police arrived and Brown walked away, according to the warrant. The victim, who said he has known Brown since 2022, was taken to the hospital.
The wide receiver played 12 seasons in the NFL, including two with the Bucs. In January 2022, Brown took off his jersey and pads in the third quarter of a game and stormed off the field. He announced his retirement from professional football two months later.
