Police arrest a woman for allegedly supplying fentanyl that led to a 23-year-old’s overdose death in the East Arlington of Jacksonville.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An arrest has been made related to the fentanyl overdose that led to the death of a 23-year-old woman in a hotel room in East Arlington earlier this year, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s announcement Monday.

Authorities stated that officers arrived at the location in March after receiving a report of the young woman found unconscious. The Medical Examiner’s Office concluded her death resulted from a fentanyl overdose. Investigations revealed she had traveled from another state to Florida to acquire drugs.

The JSO Narcotics Overdose Investigations Unit conducted a thorough inquiry, which led to the identification of 38-year-old Taira Mrochek as the suspected provider of the lethal narcotics. She was detained last month and currently faces a manslaughter charge, being held at the Duval County jail.

“This case highlights the dedication of our Narcotics and Narcotics Overdose Investigation Units,” JSO said in a statement. “Our detectives work tirelessly to remove dangerous drugs from our streets and hold accountable those who distribute them in our community.”

Police say they are working closely with the State Attorney’s Office on the case.
