A Louisiana woman was charged with the shooting death of her ex-boyfriend along with two men police say she allegedly recruited to kill him.

On June 5, a superseding indictment was filed concerning the shooting death of Jonathan Brookin, 32, in January. Authorities reported that Brookin, who was a father to five children, was fatally shot by three men during a dispute with his ex-girlfriend, Subrina Honore, 32. It was claimed that the altercation centered around the paternity of a child Honore alleged was Brookin’s. As per court documents accessed by local news source Nola.com, Honore is accused of making threats against Brookin on social media, including a post on the day of his death stating, “I got time today, [expletive]. I’m coming to your house.”

Court records reveal that on Jan. 27, Brookin was at the home of a female friend, along with her two children, aged 5 and 6 years old. According to the friend, Honore arrived at the residence around 6 p.m., appearing upset over a birth certificate for the child she believed to have with Brookin.

The female friend recounted to investigators that Brookin was in the garage with the door open while she was elsewhere in the house. At one moment, she overheard Brookin starting to argue with a woman, later confirmed to be Honore. During a court session in February regarding the case, Ryan Vaught, a Homicide Detective from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, mentioned that Brookin might not have even possessed the birth certificate initially.

Vaught also told the court that the woman and Brookin asked Honore to leave several times, and Honore reportedly refused. At that point, Vaught stated, the woman said that she saw two men — including Arthur Thomas, 31 — get out of a nearby car, both of them carrying guns. The woman ran inside the house to hide with her children.
