The initial parcel-only centers have launched in Fitzroy, Melbourne, and Waterloo, Sydney, with plans to expand into Queensland and Western Australia in the near future.
Additional locations in St Leonards in Sydney and
Chadstone in Melbourne will open soon.
Known as Australia Post Parcels, the locations will have both in-person assistance and 24/7 self-serve options.
They will be staffed from 8am-6pm but will not handle banking or other post office services.
This new setup was essential, as Australia Post handled 100 million parcels during the last Black Friday peak.

“It’s all about recognising the continued growth in parcels through the e-commerce boom,” Josh Bannister from Australia Post said.
“Collecting parcels is the primary reason people visit post offices now, and we anticipate that in the next decade, the e-commerce market will grow, causing the volume of parcels in Australia to double.”
The measure is intended to help Australia Post adapt and survive.
The cost of a stamp will also rise again, to $1.70 next month.
