Jimmy Kimmel roasts President Trump for dozing off next to Melania Trump at his "G.I. Joe-themed birthday party": "The closest he gets to sleeping with his wife"

During Monday’s episode of Live on June 17, Jimmy Kimmel critiqued President Donald Trump’s expensive military parade, highlighting how even the president appeared to drift off during the “boring” ceremony.

Kimmel shared a video where it appeared that President Trump fell asleep while seated next to First Lady Melania Trump.

“Look at sleepy Don soaking it all in,” Kimmel quipped. “To be fair, that’s probably the closest he gets to sleeping near his wife, so he seized the moment.”

Kimmel then shared yet another awkward moment between the First Couple where Melania seemingly snubbed President Trump’s attempt to hold hands.

“This almost makes me feel bad for him. Almost,” Kimmel said. “He makes a little move to lock pinkies and uh, nope. Known as the Slovenian snub.”

Kimmel has consistently expressed doubt about President Trump’s marriage. He recently nicknamed the First Couple “Don Valjean and Lady Misérable” after their attendance at a Les Misérable performance at the Kennedy Center. Displaying photos of the pair looking less than excited walking the red carpet, Kimmel remarked that they resembled “a couple who just realized they’ll have to sit together for the next three hours.”

But Melania also joined Trump at the military parade, which was meant to commemorate the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, is estimated to cost between $40-50 million. It also just so happened to fall on President Trump’s 79th birthday.

“You know, after all his talk about how this wasn’t a birthday party for him it kind of seemed like a birthday party for him,” Kimmel pointed out.

The late night host roasted President Trump for throwing a “stupid sweet 16 disguised as a tribute to the U.S. Army” when he allegedly “bone spurred his way” out of having to enlist when he was drafted into the Vietnam War.

Kimmel slammed the “boring” spectacle, pointing out that it was paid for with taxpayer money.

“It was boring,” Kimmel said. “It was basically a $50 million version of when a five-year-old shows you every car in a Hot Wheels collection.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
