A Colorado man was arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap an 8-year-old girl from a grocery store in the presence of her grandmother — twice.

According to a Facebook post by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Bradley Mikel Wilson, 34, was detained on Saturday following reports from multiple witnesses who allegedly observed him trying to abduct an 8-year-old girl from her grandmother at a Safeway store in Littleton. Police stated that Wilson approached the pair in the produce section, placed his hands on the girl’s shoulders, and asked the grandmother, “Can I borrow your child?”

Wilson attempted to guide the girl out of the store, but when the grandmother began shouting, the girl managed to escape and return to her grandmother’s side, police reported. Wilson then exited the store.

But Wilson, according to police, was apparently determined. Wilson allegedly came back inside the store and “tried to take the girl again.” This time, store employees reportedly intervened and chased Wilson out of the store. He left again, this time getting into his vehicle and driving away.
