That’s a wrap on today’s live coverage of the Israel-Iran conflict. Here were some of the key moments as the day unfolded:

— Iran launched missiles at a United States airbase in Qatar, in retaliation for US strikes on its nuclear facilities two days earlier, prompting strong criticism from countries including Australia and Qatar itself.

— United States President Donald Trump announced a ‘complete and total ceasefire’ between Israel and Iran would come into effect on Tuesday afternoon.

— The hours that led up to the ceasefire coming into effect were tense, with neither Israel nor Iran offering full clarity around whether or not they had agreed to it.

— Shortly after Trump announced the ceasefire had begun, Israel announced it had agreed to it, with Iranian press reporting that Iran had also agreed.

— Both Israel and Iran accused the other of launching strikes beyond the agreed ceasefire time.

— Trump said both had violated the ceasefire, saying he was unhappy with both countries but particularly Israel, and warning Israel “don’t drop those bombs”.
