Trump suggests CNN, NY Times may fire Iran reporters

President Trump hinted that CNN and the New York Times could dismiss the reporters who covered a preliminary “low confidence” Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) evaluation, which indicated that the strikes on Iran might have only delayed the regime’s nuclear program by a few months.

Trump made the unverified claim on Truth Social Thursday morning.

“There’s a rumor that the Failing New York Times and Fake News CNN will be firing the journalists who fabricated the FAKE stories about the Iran Nuclear sites due to their significant errors,” he stated.

The president has strongly contested that assessment in the initial report, maintaining that Iran’s three targeted facilities were “completely obliterated.”

It is unclear what evidence he has that those outlets were considering firing their reporters.

“Lets see what happens?” Trump added.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth held a press briefing Thursday morning to hit back at reporting on the DIA assessment.

CNN and the New York Times have stood by their reporting amid Trump’s criticism.
