LEESBURG, Fla. – Leesburg police have announced a third arrest in last year’s fatal shooting of an 87-year-old man.

On Thursday, 21-year-old Jasmine Gainey was taken into custody in relation to the shooting on September 28, 2024, that led to the death of Clarence Ervin from Leesburg, according to investigators.

The Leesburg Police Department reported that Gainey is charged with first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated battery with a firearm on a victim aged over 65.

Gainey’s arrest follows that of two men who were booked in October 2024 in connection to the shooting.

According to the authorities, three suspects allegedly approached Ervin while he was inside his vehicle at a Citgo on West Main Street. A confrontation ensued, during which one of the suspects shot Ervin.
