'Turn or Burn' Preacher Bests the 50501-Indivisible Bunch at Moms for Liberty Gala featuring MTG

The Saturday Moms for Liberty gala in Huntsville, AL provided quite a bit of entertainment. The highlight was another lackluster protest from the Indivisible-50501 Movement, who took issue with Moms for Liberty inviting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) as a keynote speaker. Following the announcement of Greene in late May, this group, backed by Soros, had been busy rallying and organizing, determined to make a strong showing. Their stance was that hate has no place in Huntsville—a sentiment they aimed to express forcefully.

Despite months of preparation, only 150 protestors turned up. Emily Jones, Chairman of the Moms for Liberty Madison Chapter, reported that 200 people attended the gala. A clear success for the event.

Both the Huntsville Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff’s Department maintained a visible presence, ready to handle any disruptions. Heightened security was necessary due to MTG’s status as a sitting congress member, who has reportedly faced multiple death threats and swatting incidents, as she mentioned during the gala: “more times than I can count.” To add to the tension, the venue, The Brewers Cooperative, was vandalized with graffiti on the Thursday before the gala. The graffiti included a death threat and a crude insult aimed at Moms for Liberty and MTG.

The graffiti read, “F*** MTG and M4L. Shoot those crackers.”

The irony in this message is that the business owner of The Brewers Cooperative is a Black man named Chris Horn. But these people aren’t exactly Mensa-level thinkers.

The protest group was mercifully relegated to a piece of lawn near the parking entrance, well away from the venue. So, while you could hear them as you walked to The Brewer’s Cooperative, they did not disrupt the event.

But they were there to make noise, and make noise they did, while displaying signs which maligned MTG, and uttering chants like “Huntsville, we own these streets,” “F*ck Trump,” and, “This is what democracy looks like.” You know, all the original ones.

One of the protesters, with a shirt that said, “You Are Enough,” either had Tourette’s or was a dance major, because he could not keep still.

Then there were the “leaders” of the protest. One who decided that draping himself with the American flag afforded him more legitimacy than the other rainbow flags on display.

The other was a keffiyeh-draped woman who I distinctly remember leading the “Hands Off” Huntsville protest back in April. Girl’s gotta eat, I guess, and these protests do pay.

But the most hilarious part is that just as the group was getting revved up, they were drowned out by someone with a bigger microphone. This “Turn or Burn” preacher parked himself on the lawn across from the 50501-Indivisible protesters and began to preach while lodging insults against the protesters. In this age of seeker-sensitive, woke Christianity, this guy was definitely a throwback. His wife had a supersized Bible that said, “Prepare to Meet Thy God.” Not exactly subtle.

When one of the protesters decided to wave their “Human” flag with LGBTQ+ colors in their face, the wife just laughed at them. From that point forward, it was like watching a comedy sketch. The 50501-Indivisible protesters attempted to chant down wannabe Billy Sunday, but he was louder and way more articulate. The protesters even attempted to engage with him, but the Sheriff’s officers were having none of it. They gently directed the 50501-Indivisible bunch back to their patch of lawn. It was like watching a balloon deflate as they simply stood and stared at wannabe Billy Sunday and his wife as he spewed insults and quoted scripture. The leaders finally decided that they should march around the block in order to be heard and make their presence known.

A supposedly organized group of professional protesters bested by a sidewalk preacher. I still cannot stop laughing.

Back at The Brewers Cooperative, everyone was having a great time, including MTG. In her keynote, she made an observation about the people outside versus the people within the venue. You’ll find it at the end of this hilarious montage.
