A Texas woman is facing charges after police say she left a 4-year-old inside a daycare van Friday, at the Learning Club Preschool in Brownsville.

ValleyCentral reports that 36-year-old Karen Silva is facing serious charges of causing a child’s death through injury, after authorities in Brownsville discovered the unresponsive child inside a van situated on the 3900 block of Paredes Line Road.

First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

“When officers arrived at the location, they were informed of a 4-year-old child found unresponsive inside a daycare van. Brownsville EMS came to the location, and the child was declared deceased,” shared Brownsville police on Facebook.

The victim’s name and manner of death has not yet been revealed. Police will provide additional updates as the investigation continues.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” police said.
