SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The City of Savannah revealed on Thursday that water customers will be notified this week about a Notice of Violation (NOV) that has been issued.

This NOV is being issued by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) following an incident at the Industrial & Domestic (I&D) Water Treatment Plant (WTP), where there was an increased level of cloudiness in the water on the night between May 15-16.

The City of Savannah reported that they took proper corrective action and normal operating conditions were back by May 16.

Following the incident, city staff tested 71 water samples and found no evidence of contamination within the drinking water distribution system.

Customers are not required to take any action and city water is safe to drink.

Residents who wish to learn more may contact the city of Savannah’s Office of Water Resources at 912-651-6573.
