I used to be fat... here's how my life has changed

A woman who ‘used to be fat’ has opened up about the realities of life now she has shed the pounds.

Over the past four years, Krista from Colorado has shed more than half of her body weight, experiencing significant enhancements in her quality of life and how people perceive her.

Krista, who reached a peak weight of 298 pounds, frequently shares her weight loss strategies and insights on her TikTok account, FormerFattyKrista, after successfully losing over 170 pounds through regular exercise and a nutritious diet.

‘Losing 170 pounds has revealed the superficial nature of people. The drastic change in how the world treats you once you’re no longer overweight is incredible,’ stated Krista, whose current weight is 130 pounds.

‘When you’re bigger you’re invisible. Lose weight and suddenly you’re everyone’s favorite,’ the mom noted.

‘The difference between being ignored and being praised is about 75 pounds,’ she quipped.

The mom, who has declared that ‘skinny people have it so much easier,’ shared the things she can do now she’s lost weight and is a smaller size.

‘Now that I’m skinny I could literally not work out another day in my life and nobody would care,’ she explained. ‘The second you’re fat, everybody has an opinion about what you’re doing and how you’re moving your body.’

Krista observed that she can get away with ‘being a b***h,’ and thinks people now respect her opinion more.

‘Now that I’m skinny I can go to a restaurant and order what ever I want,’ she continued. ‘It’s cute if I order a burger and fries and eat a lot of food.’

However, she declared that when she was bigger, it was ‘not okay.’

‘God forbid I would have ordered a burger,’ she joked, saying she felt heavily judged for what she was eating and drinking when she went out.

‘Eating in public when you’re overweight is mortifying,’ she sadly reflected.

Krista also said she’s ‘allowed’ to be tired now she is a smaller size.

‘When you are fat you are now allowed to come around and be like, “I had such a long day I just want to go home and sit on the couch.”‘

She said the looks and judgment she got after saying things like that were ‘disgusting.’

Krista shared the ways she has been treated differently following her transformation, starting with her friends.

‘Number one, my friends treat me different,’ she shared. ‘I have some friends who all of a sudden they want to take pictures with me and post it on social media, or they’ll now make birthday posts about me when they didn’t used to before.’

Saying she’s not reading ‘too much’ into this, Krista has noted they are ‘suddenly’ not ashamed to show the world that they’re friends anymore.

‘Because now I’m skinny, that I look better, it’s fun to post pictures with your semi-attractive friend.’

Krista also admitted she thinks some of the people in her life were trying to sabotage her weight loss.

‘If we went out to dinner, I had a couple of friends who – every single time – they were like “just order dessert, eat the bread, you still need to enjoy your life,”‘ she recalled.

She added the sales assistants when clothes shopping are now ‘so much more’ helpful.

Krista said when she weighed more, sales assistants would avoid helping her, whereas now, they talk to her immediately.
