He tragically died at the scene following unsuccessful attempts to revive him – believed to have lasted more than an hour.

An autopsy has not yet been conducted, but insiders from the investigation have indicated that they are exploring the possibility that drug use might be connected to his passing.

The alert was raised around 12.30am onMonday morning.

The tragedy occurred in the popular resort of Playa d’en Bossa, near a four-star hotel called Ibiza Twiins.

The man was found in the street near the hotel.

There has not yet been any official comment from the National Police – the force that dealt with the incident.

Officers are expected to offer information tomorrow.

It is not yet clear whether the Brit was on holiday on the island or lived locally, although he is thought to have been a tourist.

Sources confirmed he was a British national but could not specify his exact age.

This heartbreaking incident follows another tragedy involving a British tourist who died two weeks earlier on a different Balearic Island, Majorca, after accidentally falling from a tall wall.

The 41-year-old man reportedly lost his balance and fell approximately 16 feet to his death at the picturesque beach resort of Cala Agulla, located on the island’s northeast coast.

Firefighters and mountain rescue teams recovered the man’s body after an emergency call was put in, reports Ultima Hora.

He is said to have died instantly after falling onto rocks at around 1.30am this morning.

It was not immediately clear if he had been on his own or with other people at the time.

Police sources said today they were treating the incident as an accident.

They have established his identity.

A well-placed source said today the dead man had been with his partner when the tragedy happened.

The woman, who is also understood to be British, also fell but survived and went to raise the alarm at a nearby hotel.
