Some flights between Australia and Bali have faced delays after a recent volcanic eruption in Indonesia.

Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki erupted on Monday, releasing an ash plume 18 kilometers high at the well-known travel destination.

A representative for Virgin Australia noted that two morning flights from Brisbane and Melbourne to Denpasar have been postponed this afternoon while the airline keeps track of the ash cloud’s movements.

“Our experienced meteorologists are carefully observing the conditions and ash cloud activity following Mount Lewotobi’s eruption,” the representative stated.

“We encourage guests travelling to or from Bali today to closely monitor their flight status via the Virgin Australia website or app.”

Jetstar and Qantas flights between Australia and Bali are expected to operate as normal today.

“Safety is always our top priority, and we will contact customers directly if their flight is disrupted.

“We thank customers for their patience and understanding.”
