Trump flirts with Nikki Minaj and a third term at midterm rally

Nicki Minaj, one of rap’s biggest recording artists, appeared alongside President Donald Trump at his midterm campaign rally on Sunday afternoon.

Addressing the crowd, Minaj told Trump: “President Trump, it is an honor to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever.” She continued: “If you run again, I will support you again.”

Before Minaj spoke, Trump commented on her derrière, calling it a “beautiful a**” and inviting her to “stand up” and show it to the audience.

Trump had made a similar remark about the backside of GOP Ohio Senate candidate Jon Husted, saying, “I looked at his [Husted’s] a**,” before adding, “I’ve never done that with a man before.”

Before taking the stage, Minaj told Our News Outlet: “This election is the most important midterm election of our lifetimes.”

“We need to make sure that our great President has a great team in Congress to work with during his final two years in office so he can continue to create great programs like the Trump accounts, which I am a proud supporter of,” she added.

Trump arrived at McMorran Place Sports and Entertainment Center in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday afternoon to campaign for Republicans less than two weeks before the midterm elections. His party is seeking to defy historical trends in November despite his approval rating falling to 36 percent, according to the New York Times average.

Trump’s approval rating has slipped slightly over the past month, while 61 percent of respondents said they disapproved of his performance as president.

During the Michigan rally, Trump launched a fierce attack on the state’s Democratic US Senate nominee, Abdul El-Sayed, accusing him of being a “Jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member” and saying he was there to prevent him from becoming a senator.

El-Sayed, who is running on the Democratic ticket in Michigan, has drawn Trump’s criticism because of his political views and Islamic background. The President has called him a “Member of the Muslim Brotherhood” and said he “should never be allowed inside the halls of our great, beautiful Capitol building in Washington, DC.”

Trump also claimed on Sunday that “Abdul” would be the only senator required to pass through a metal detector before entering the Senate.

Members of the public and congressional staff undergo security screening at the US Capitol. Members of Congress can bypass the checks by showing their member pins to Capitol Police.

Other Muslim members of Congress, including Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, are not subject to additional screening beyond the procedures applied to their colleagues.

Trump’s appearance in Michigan came one day after El-Sayed campaigned in Detroit with former Democratic President Barack Obama. Trump claimed that his Sunday rally attracted a larger crowd than the Democrats’ event the previous day.

Trump’s warning to El-Sayed followed an interruption by a protester at the President’s rally, whom Trump described as a “paid protester.”

Such disruptions have become a recurring feature of Trump’s final series of campaign rallies before the November midterm elections.

Trump once again told his supporters that the protesters at his rallies are ‘paid $250’ to cause disturbances. As the protester stood up, Trump called for law enforcement to remove him from the premises, as MAGA fans chanted ‘USA, USA, USA.’

After the brief interruption, Trump dove into Michigan’s US Senate race between Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed.

Trump said that Rogers was out of ‘central casting’ before, calling him ‘apple pie,’ seemingly a nod to how much he captures the essence of Americana compared to his Democratic opponent El-Sayed.

El-Sayed, a son of Egyptian immigrants who could be the first Muslim US Senator, is running on a platform that includes ideas such as Medicare for All.

Michigan’s US Senate seat is rated as a ‘toss-up’ by the Cook Political Report.

In the final Michigan US Senate debate held last Wednesday between El-Sayed and Mike Rogers, they clashed over Rogers’s repeated attack that El-Sayed has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a politically active group across the Middle East, including Egypt, from which El-Sayed’s parents immigrated. It has been linked to other terror groups like Hamas.

Earlier this year, under President Trump, the US Treasury and State Department designated branches of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations.

‘As a matter of fact, he asked the Muslim Brotherhood head, Morsi, in Egypt to defund the police there, too,’ Rogers claimed at one point in the debate, name-dropping the former Egyptian president who was tied to the group.

The line triggered a strong response from El-Sayed.

‘He keeps raising this question about this association with the organization,’ El-Sayed replied before telling Rogers: ‘It’s really quite beneath you.’

In another tense moment, Rogers called out El-Sayed for not being able to ‘even condemn the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps], which is the terrorist enforcement arm of Iran, and doesn’t believe Iran is any more dangerous than Israel. This is an absolute nonstarter.’

While riffing on El-Sayed, Trump also said that he did not know how any Jews could support the Democrat, while claiming that his own approval rating in Israel is ’99 percent.’

Later on in the rally, Trump called for Muslim congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota to resign from Congress.

‘It was just revealed that Ilhan Omar’s name is not Ilhan Omar,’ Trump told the crowd.

The president claimed Omar had used a different name to get elected and sworn into Congress, then linked the allegation to longstanding claims that she married her brother.

The Department of Justice referenced Omar by the name ‘Ilhan Nur Said Elmi’ in court filings related to the federal raid of her Washington, DC residence, fueling fresh questions over allegations about the Minnesota Democrat’s identity.

But Omar has firmly rejected the claims, insisting her real name is Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.

He also brought up Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, Omar’s former husband, and claimed his name matched that of her brother.

During another notable moment in Sunday’s rally, Trump praised the men who helped him win Michigan in 2024, including Massad Boulos, his current Senior Advisor to the President of the United States on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs and concurrently the Senior Advisor for Africa at the US Department of State in the second administration.

Boulos is also the father of Michael Boulos, one of Trump’s sons-in-law, the husband of his daughter Tiffany Trump.

Trump also praised Amer Ghalib, the former Mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan, for his help in 2024 election. Trump put Ghalib forward for the post of US ambassador to Kuwait, but his nomination stalled in the Senate.
