Samuel Penalba, 34, is also accused of trying to delete photo and video proof of the incident.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a dance instructor in Jacksonville has been taken into custody for engaging in unlawful sexual conduct with a victim aged 16 or 17.

The JSO reports that their Special Assault Unit has been looking into Samuel Penalba, 34, since July 1, after receiving a complaint. Investigators discovered that he had “participated in sexual activities with the victim on multiple occasions inside his vehicle,” according to a statement.

JSO found explicit photos and videos that coincided with statements the victim gave them, the release said.

Penalba has also been charged with felony tampering charges, as he is accused of deleting evidence from his cell phone.

JSO says this is the first investigation involving Penalba. He has resigned from his position at the dance studio.

To protect the victim’s identity, JSO does not intend to disclose additional details. “JSO will not tolerate anyone preying on children in our community,” the statement reads.
