Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz invested $16 million in a Beverly Hills mansion with exclusive Italian interiors, only to promptly remove some of its opulent features, Daily Mail reveals.

This stunning six-bedroom, seven-bathroom luxury residence, located in the celebrity-filled Beverly Hills, was adorned with an ultra-modern kitchen and bathrooms crafted by famous architect Vincent Van Duysen.

However, the couple, both with successful family backgrounds, recently disclosed as new homeowners since December, found some of the custom designs unsatisfactory and have since demolished sections of it, incurring expenses of at least $1 million.

Belgian-born Van Duysen – the creative director of elite Italian furniture brand Molteni&C – oversaw the remodeling of the property, personally designing the kitchen and bathrooms, incorporating high-end materials such as matte black lacquer cabinetry, lava stone countertops, and bronze finishes.

The renovations are estimated to have cost between $2.5million and $4million and Van Duysen’s involvement alone would’ve added another $500,000 to $1million to the price tag, according to real estate experts.

Van Duysen has been lauded for his work in Elle Decor and has been known to be a close collaborator of Julianne Moore and Kim Kardashian, designing her $60million Calabasas mansion which has been featured in Vogue and AD.

He is also the creative brains behind the Zara Home collection.

He furnished the living room and kids’ bedrooms at the home she once shared with ex-husband Kanye West, and also designed an apartment in the same area in a ‘brutalist’ fashion.

But it seems all the high-end bells and whistles were not to the liking of Brooklyn and Nicola, who have undone most of the designer craftmanship.

Permits publicly filed with the City of Beverly Hills and obtained by the Daily Mail reveal the couple ditched all the kitchen counters and four out of six bathroom vanities.

They even replaced the chic outdoor metal fire pit with a stone one.

Experts have estimated that it would cost $440,000 to install the countertops and fire pit, $75,000 to remove them, and a further $510,00 to replace them, so a total of $1.025million.

New York architect Jeff Akerman, Strategic Construction Advisor at Real Estate Bees estimates the kitchen countertops, including installation, would cost up to $250,000 alone.

Meanwhile, the stone-carved bathroom countertops are valued at $40,000 each, and the custom fire pit at $30,000.

‘We’re talking about top-tier, custom European finishes, arguably bespoke, imported stone or solid surface slabs, which are likely hand-selected and fabricated with the utmost precision,’ he told the Daily Mail.

According to Akerman, the elite designs and fixtures could add up to 30 per cent to a home’s value.

‘Even though it’s hard to quantify what the original cost may have been without blueprints or an ID spec book, the case is they manage every finish – doors, fixtures, closets, lighting, built-ins, cladding, cabinetry, even rugs, accessories and the art that goes on the walls and other decorations.

David and Victoria Beckham have been estranged from their oldest son for most of the year

Brooklyn, 30, shared another gushing post about his wife on Monday, as he marked five years since proposing to the billionaire heiress, 30

Brooklyn, 30, who recently celebrated his five-year wedding anniversary with this wife, has been estranged from his parents for most of the year

‘A Molteni full package must have been around $2.5million to $4million, depending on the scope,’ he added.

Another expert, construction contractor Jessica Lauren of Fire Damaged House Aid, offered one possible reason as to why the famous pair would want to remove the kitchen tops made of lava stone – as it’s believed it gives people bad luck.

‘The decision to remove the lava rock countertops might be influenced by the thought that the stone is associated with a religious and metaphysical belief that lava should stay in its native condition and state,’ she said.

‘I’ve had clients ask that lava stone be removed from fireplaces as part of a sales contract. Some buyers feel it’s very bad luck to have lava anywhere in the home.’
