URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — All of Champaign County’s offices and departments are officially in their new home in downtown Urbana.

Aaron Ammons, the County Clerk and Recorder, announced that his office has finalized its relocation to the Bennett Administrative Center in downtown Urbana this week. As reported on the Champaign County website, Ammons’ office was the final entity to transition into the building.

“This relocation has been accomplished much earlier than expected, thanks to our committed staff members and diligent movers,” Ammons stated. “Along with being grateful for our team, we appreciate the public’s patience over the past few days as we have worked to relocate our office.”

The vast majority of his office’s services are now operational.

The Bennett Administrative Center, previously known as County Plaza, was acquired by the county in 2022 and renamed to honor the late State Senator Scott Bennett. Renovations took place from 2023 through the spring of this year, and the county’s offices and departments commenced their transition into the building in April.

A formal dedication of the building is being planned. Information on this event will be posted on the county’s website when details become finalized.
