NY gym teacher got creepy with female student using dog collar, then threatened to 'stalk' her: prosecutors

A gym teacher from Yonkers is accused of calling a female student a “bitch” and suggesting he wanted to put a dog collar, which he held, around her neck, according to prosecutors on Wednesday.

Matt Hausman, 59, a teacher at Yonkers Middle-High School, was arrested by local police following several disturbing allegations. These included asking the student if he could “send my daughters” and “my wife” to her father, suggesting he could “get” her in return.

Susan Cacace, the District Attorney of Westchester County, criticized Hausman, who lives in Somers, for allegedly making inappropriate romantic and sexual comments toward the student.

“The exploitation and abuse of children, whether as alleged here or anywhere else, will never be tolerated by my administration,” the top prosecutor said in a statement.

“The welfare of our most vulnerable residents, including and especially our children, must always come first.”

The alleged harassment dates back to at least October 2024, including floating the sickening trade of his kids and wife in exchange for her two months later, the district attorney’s office said.

The physical education teacher is accused of referring to the girl as a “bitch” while he had a dog collar in his hands in February. He then opened the collar and insinuated he wanted her to wear it, prosecutors alleged.

The same month he allegedly kissed the girl on her birthday.

Earlier in the year, he asked the student over text if he was being “ghosted” by her, according to prosecutors.

“Hi are you angry with me? I felt blown off at the dance, didn’t hear from you all weekend,” he allegedly wrote in January.

“Am I being ‘ghosted’? Do you have a new bf [boyfriend] and therefore [sic] avoiding me, what’s up?”

In April 2025, he allegedly texted the victim “[m]aybe I could give you motion sickness” and “[n]pw I can be a stalker (if I had the time)” after he got ahold of her list of classes.

He also complained about the victim hugging a teen boy, stating the other student was no longer allowed in his classroom and also confessed he had romantic feelings for her even though he knew it was wrong, the district attorney’s office alleged.

It’s unclear how old the victim is, but a teacher’s page from Hausman stated he was teaching 11th graders. The school ranges from sixth to 12th grades.

He was hit with a pair of harassment charges, which are violations, and a count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty to all counts in Yonkers City Court Wednesday.

He was released because the charges were not bail eligible – though the judge granted a temporary order of protection for the victim, prosecutors said.

The defendant’s lawyer, Joseph Tock, declined comment when reached by The Post.

The Post has sought comment from the Yonkers school board.
