Robin Kaye was with “American Idol” for more than 15 years and was working on the upcoming season at the time of her death.

LOS ANGELES — A 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a former “American Idol” music supervisor and her husband at their Los Angeles home. The charges were filed on Thursday.

Police reported that officers performing a welfare check on Monday at a gated property in the Encino area discovered the bodies of a man and a woman, both with gunshot wounds. They were later identified as 70-year-olds Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca.

According to police, Raymond Boodarian, who resides in Encino, was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities suspect that he was committing a burglary at the couple’s home on July 10, and he allegedly shot them when they unexpectedly returned.

Boodarian faces charges including murder and first-degree burglary, Deputy District Attorney Hilary Williams told reporters. Arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 20.

Boodarian could not be reached for comment. Messages were sent to the public defender’s office inquiring if one of its attorneys was representing him.

Kaye was with “American Idol,” the hit singing competition TV series, for more than 15 years and was working on the upcoming season at the time of her death.

“Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her,” an “American Idol” spokesperson said in a statement. “Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Kaye, an industry veteran, has also worked in the music departments of several other productions such as “The Singing Bee,” “Hollywood Game Night,” “Lip Sync Battle,” and several Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
