A plane with almost 50 passengers reportedly went down in Russia’s Far East on Thursday. Emergency services in the region have discovered the site where it crashed.

The Emergency Situations Ministry of Russia stated that search teams located the airplane’s burning body on a hillside. This area is situated south of where the plane was supposed to land, in the town of Tynda, which is close to Russia’s border with China.

Images of the reported crash site circulated by Russian state media show debris scattered among dense forest, surrounded by plumes of smoke.

The transport prosecutor’s office said the plane attempted a second approach while trying to land when contact with it was lost.
