2 Men Charged in Drug Overdose Deaths of Kansas City Chiefs Fans Due in Court

Two men facing murder charges in connection with the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans, resulting from drug overdoses, are scheduled to appear in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson are accused of providing the drugs that led to the deaths of Ricky Johnson, 38; David Harrington, 37; and Clayton McGeeney, 36, as reported by CrimeOnline. The three were discovered lifeless in Willis’ backyard on January 9, 2024, following a gathering at his home to watch a football game.

Autopsies determined that they “all died of fentanyl and cocaine combined toxicity,” court records showed.

Willis informed investigators that the men had come to watch the football game on January 7, during which they consumed alcohol and smoked marijuana. He mentioned that at some point, he believed they had left, but in reality, they had moved to the backyard, where they passed away.

Willis and Carson have pleaded not guilty.

Thursday’s hearing is to determine if there is enough evidence to proceed to trial, Fox News reported.

Willis was released earlier on bond, while Carson remains behind bars.
