For the team behind “King of the Hill,” coming back to San Diego Comic-Con after 15 years feels like a family reunion, complete with plenty of propane tank props and costumes.
Saladin Patterson, the executive producer and showrunner, humorously suggested that Hank Hill might be puzzled by all the capes and costumes. “Hank would probably wonder why adults are dressed up in the middle of the day instead of being at work,” he told On The Red Carpet.
The much-loved animated show, which originally ran from 1997 to 2010, is making a comeback. Cast members remarked that interacting with fans face-to-face is a powerful reminder of the series’ lasting impact.
Pamela Adlon, who voices Bobby Hill, said Comic-Con is exactly where her character would thrive.
“Bobby embraces this culture… this is very much a part of his DNA,” she said.
Toby Huss, who voices fan-favorite Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill, credited longtime viewers for the revival.
“I think it’s very sweet – these are the people that kept the whole show going all this time,” Huss said. “One of the big reasons it’s coming back.”
“King of the Hill” Season 14 premieres August 4 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
