SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) generously gifted a vast array of art materials to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System on Tuesday. This contribution is a part of SCAD’s yearly art supply donation effort.

Gifts presented to over 50 art educators were collected from SCAD students as the academic year concluded. SCAD SERVE expanded its collection efforts this year, setting up additional donation points on campus and gathering more supplies than ever before.

SCAD SERVE’s vice president, Scott Linzey, expressed that this annual event is a highlight for him. “I understand the significance of this day for our local art teachers. These supplies will enhance art education countywide, inspiring future generations of artists and designers.”

The SCAD SERVE team carefully organized the donated materials, assembling boxes full of tools for students. Both new and gently used art supplies were distributed, including paint, brushes, fabric, charcoal, sketch paper, portfolio bags, and many other artistic tools. Each SCCPSS school received a box of new supplies, and teachers had the opportunity to “shop” for additional free materials for their classrooms.

SCCPSS superintendent Dr. Denise Watts expressed her gratitude towards SCAD SERVE. “Thank you to SCAD for their ongoing support via the annual Back to School art supply donation event. This extraordinary gesture provides our educators with essential classroom resources and exemplifies SCAD’s unwavering dedication to fostering creativity and learning. Our teachers look forward to this event each year, and we are profoundly thankful for SCAD’s partnership, which empowers both staff and students throughout the academic year.”
