For a star counted among Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses, spending long days in deliberately drab wardrobe choices can hardly be the most exciting part of the job.
But after seasons of playing Breaking Bad’s Skyler White in understated, everyday outfits, Anna Gunn seized her moment on Sunday night, stepping onto the red carpet at the 65th Emmy Awards in full glamour mode.
The 45-year-old actress looked worlds removed from her famously practical on-screen character, arriving in a sweeping floor-length gown by Romona Keveza.

Gunn cut an elegant figure in the soft pink design, which was elevated by a striking black lace bodice that added a sleek, modern contrast.
Chatting with E! red carpet host Giuliana Rancic, the actress said the dress appealed to her because of its classic Old Hollywood glamour and the beauty of its lace detailing.
‘I love the fabric and the material,’ she gushed. ‘It fits like a glove.’
Rancic, who wore a powder-blue gown accented with silver thread, could not resist bringing up Skyler’s famously unfussy wardrobe, asking Gunn: ‘What do you feel more comfy in, glamourous gown or mom jeans?’

‘I prefer this look to Skyler’s look,’ the blonde star replied, laughing. ‘I always wondered why Skylar couldn’t use some of the drug money to buy a nice gown, just once!’
The off-the-shoulder dress served to highlight Anna’s toned and tanned frame, as did her lack of jewellery.
Wearing her blonde hair in a loose up ‘do, Gunn was able to show off her huge pearl droplet earrings, which was her only bling aside from a large diamond on her right hand.
When it came to her make-up, the pretty actress glowed thanks to a natural pallet that didn’t detract from her overall look.
When commenting on the upcoming finale of cult hit Breaking Bad, Anna was careful no to give anything away.

‘Oh boy, anything really can happen,’ she said. ‘Look we’ve been trained like the CIA to within an inch of our lives not to reveal anything. And the audience will appreciate that. It’s apocalyptic!’
Luckily all Anna’s talent and hard work paid off and on the night she scooped the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Meanwhile, her on-screen husband Bryan Cranston, 57, talked about the possible reasons for the show’s success.
‘I think everyone wants to be a bad guy and cook crystal meth and murder people,’ he joked, before going on to comment on the show’s ending.
‘Next week is our final episode,’ he confirmed. ‘It’s bittersweet, because you’ve come to a close, but we’re finishing at just the right time. The ending is perfect and unapologetic.’

When asked whether there will be a spinoff to follow, Cranston teased: ‘We’ll have to see if anyone survives the holocaust!’
He then confirmed that a prequel called Better Call Saul, surrounding the lawyer character of Saul, is currently being discussed.
Meanwhile, Aaron Paul, who plays Jesse Pinkman on the show, didn’t mention the future of the series, but he did comment on the relationship he has with his wife of four months. Lauren Parsekian.
‘We’re so ridiculously in love,’ he enthused. ‘It’s on such a different level.’
‘It’s like an obsession I have, I always ask her: “Is it difficult being so beautiful, is it fun being so fun?”
Paul lost out to Boardwalk Empire’s Bobby Cannavale in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series.
Following Bryan and Aaron up the red carpet was Dean Norris, who plays DEA agent Hank Schrader on the show.
Dressed in a classic black tuxedo, Norris larked about as he greeted friends at the event.
