U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) filed a detainer for a previously deported illegal migrant accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in his apartment complex in Pasadena, Texas.
According to arrest records from July 2, investigators reported that Jose Maldonado-Zavala, a 60-year-old from Honduras, falsely claimed the victim’s air conditioner was leaking into his apartment. He then forcibly took her into his residence and sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to fight off Maldonado-Zavala and escape, the records state.
“This despicable criminal illegal alien should not have been in our country,” declared Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Local authorities charged Maldonado-Zavala with kidnapping and sexually assaulting his neighbor.
“We will not allow criminal illegal aliens to victimize American citizens. This individual had already been deported in 2011. Thanks to the efforts of President Trump and Secretary Noem, we now have the most secure border in our history, which helps prevent criminals like this from entering our country,” McLaughlin continued.

The Pasadena Police Department said in late July that “Investigators believe there may be additional victims in the area.”
The public was advised, “If you or someone you know had any interactions” with Maldonado-Zavala and “suspect a crime may have been committed,” you should reach out to law enforcement.
