No soldiers dead in shooting at Fort Stewart

Five soldiers were wounded. It has now been confirmed that they all are expected to survive their injuries.

FORT STEWART, Ga. — An active shooter situation unfolded on Wednesday morning at Fort Stewart in Georgia, where five soldiers sustained gunshot wounds. Despite the severity, an Army general confirmed that all the soldiers involved are expected to recover.

Out of the injured, two soldiers have been transported to Savannah’s Memorial University Medical Center for treatment. The remaining three soldiers are receiving medical care at the Winn Army Community Hospital.

Officials said law enforcement was dispatched to the incident at 10:56 a.m. and the shooter was apprehended at 11:35 a.m. 

During a press briefing, Brig. Gen. John Lubas, the leader of the 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, revealed that the alleged shooter has been identified as Army Sgt. Quornelius Radford.

He is in custody and charges are pending.
