Chelsea have reported a bizarre incident at their Cobham training base after £30,000 worth of camera equipment mysteriously went missing.

The Blues reached out to Surrey Police following the unexpected disappearance of their gear, as reported by The Sun. This was discovered when the first team came back for training ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea’s expansive Cobham facility, valued at £20 million and situated roughly 20 miles from Stamford Bridge, is renowned as one of the Premier League’s most secure and advanced training centers.

There is a chance that the equipment was merely misplaced during the off-season, with most of the club’s support staff only just returning from their summer vacations. However, the suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident prompted the club to contact the authorities.

Chelsea did not respond to 90min’s request for comment.

Chelsea has been hit by thefts before – though not at Cobham itself.

Previously, Raheem Sterling’s home in Surrey was notoriously broken into during the 2022 World Cup, resulting in the theft of £300,000 worth of watches. Additionally, in 2021, Reece James had a safe stolen from his residence, which contained his Champions League and Euro 2020 runners-up medals.

So while this might be a case of summer brain fog – it’s no wonder the Blues are being extra cautious.
