A tourist from New York was killed while visiting Puerto Rico for a Bad Bunny concert, according to police.

Kevin Mares, aged 25, suffered a gunshot wound to his left abdomen early Sunday in the La Perla district of San Juan, Puerto Rico. This area is known for its history of violence. The incident occurred during the early morning hours at a local nightspot known as “Refuge for Mistreated Men” in the coastal region.

An argument broke out among several individuals near Mares, leading to someone drawing a firearm and firing at least three people, including Mares, who was visiting from New York. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately passed away, according to homicide detective Sgt. Arnaldo Ruiz.

Two other people, a brother and sister in their mid-40s, remain in the hospital.

The tribute states, “His boundless kindness, adventurous nature, and steadfast dedication to his family made him a cornerstone for his loved ones. Kevin had a promising future, with plans to propose to his girlfriend of six years this fall and a knack for creating lasting memories with those dearest to him. Family was his priority, and his unexpected death has left an irreplaceable gap in our lives.”
