CHELTENHAM, Pa. — Surveillance video shows the moment an armored truck driver was targeted by armed thieves on Tuesday in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania.

Police responded to the scene outside an H Mart around 10:30 a.m.

In this incident, the driver was not hurt, but the suspects got away with hundreds of thousands of dollars.

While finishing a delivery at the H Mart, a delivery driver was confronted by two individuals. One reportedly carried an AK-style rifle, and the other was armed with a handgun, according to the driver’s statement to the police.

“They commanded her to give up her weapon and subsequently took between $700,000 and $800,000 in cash from the armored vehicle,” said Lt. Andy Snyder of the Cheltenham Police Department.

The suspects then took off in a black Acura TLX, heading west into Philadelphia, Snyder said.

The vehicle was subsequently located a short time later, unoccupied in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, officials said.

Police said the suspects are believed to be tied to other previous robberies.

“This marks the fourth or fifth occurrence we’ve experienced, and an AK-style rifle is certainly intimidating. The risk level is extremely high for everyone involved,” noted Snyder.

No shots were fired, and no one was injured.
