MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) – Mahomet-Seymour volleyball hoisted the 3A state trophy at the end of its 2024 season.
The Bulldogs have bid farewell to some exceptional seniors but are poised with a formidable lineup of returning talent, including Purdue commit Lily Bosworth.
“Every time I step onto the court, I’m determined to make an impact, score that point, execute that play. I trust in my abilities and my capacity to succeed,” shared Bosworth.
The Bulldogs also bring back Ava Yeakel, Erin Dallas, Hannah Martin, Addy Reigart and other contributors to the 3A title run from last season.
Plus, they hope to see younger players step up.
MSHS’s head volleyball coach, Stan Bergman, boasts over three decades of volleyball coaching experience, with more than 20 years dedicated to leading the program in Mahomet.
“He’s very stern like, he’ll say it how it is, but he has a soft spot and he’s just a great coach,” Dallas said.
Bergman knows last year’s success won’t count for points or wins this year, but has already learned the 2025 squad is tough.
“Resilience,” he remarked regarding his observations from the first couple of weeks of practice. “The team has overcome several hurdles… Their excitement for the first match is palpable. They’re eager to unite on the court again.”
The Bulldogs open the season on Tuesday Aug. 26 against Kankakee.
