Inconsistent Statements Cloud Search for California Baby Emmanuel Haro, Foul Play Not Ruled Out

Deputies in California were seen with the father of missing 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro on Sunday, walking into a remote area in Moreno Valley.

As reported by ABC 7, the child’s father, Jake Haro, was observed in an orange jumpsuit, accompanied by cadaver dogs and deputies from the San Bernardino County sheriff’s office, around “dry brush off the 60 Freeway,” near Gilman Springs Road.

The sheriff’s office said the search ended without locating the child.

“The search has concluded, and Emmanuel was not located. The investigation to find Emmanuel continues.”

A previous report by CrimeOnline stated that police took the parents, Rebecca and Jake Haro, into custody on Friday under suspicion of murder, after conducting an investigation at their residence in Cabazon.

The arrests came after both parents allegedly made inconsistent statements to police before retaining an attorney.

Rebecca Haro claimed she woke up to find Emmanuel missing after someone reportedly knocked her unconscious on August 14, giving her a black eye.

She said she went to a Big 5 Sporting Goods in Yucaipa, because her older son needed a mouth guard.

She told police she took Emmanuel with her, while her two other children and husband stayed at the local park, where their son had football practice.

She recounted to the police that while she was in the store parking lot changing the baby’s diaper, an unfamiliar person approached and greeted her with “Hola,” subsequently knocking her unconscious.

“Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,” the sheriff’s office said.

Additionally, KTLA provides information that detectives are investigating a potential video showing Rebecca Haro with a black eye dating back to August 3, alongside claims that Emmanuel was not observed at the park with his family on the concerned day.

Their 2-year-old child has been removed from their care, with the child’s grandmother mentioning that authorities conducted a search with cadaver dogs at the family’s residence.
