SpaceX’s Starship rocket is set to make another attempt at its 10th test flight on Monday evening, following a technical issue that led to an aborted liftoff from the South Texas site the previous day.
This upcoming test is a significant step forward for Elon Musk’s ambitious vision of using Starship to transport astronauts to the moon and ultimately, explore Mars.
The Sunday night launch was called off due to problems with the ground systems. The team has since refocused on a new launch window scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday.
The spaceflight is set to stream live.
The main objective of Monday’s mission is to test the spacecraft’s upper stage, which is engineered to carry crew and cargo into space and then make a controlled descent back to Earth, landing in the Gulf of America.
A successful test would also mark a step forward in proving the system’s reusability which is key to Musk’s vision of affordable space travel.
