Here’s a quick summary of where things stand in this unfolding manhunt.
Yesterday morning, at about 10am, 10 police officers attended a property on Rayner Track, Porepunkah.
Three of them were shot in an ambush.
Two of the officers, a 59-year-old detective, and a 35-year-old senior constable, died from their injuries.
The third has been taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The shooter, believed to be self-proclaimed sovereign citizen Dezi Freeman (pictured), was last seen running into bushland.
He’s believed to be armed with his own weapons and some taken from the fallen officers.
Freeman’s wife and children arrived at a police station yesterday evening, with police saying there is no indication they were with the suspected gunman.
There has been no update on police advice for residents in Porepunkah to stay indoors and for travellers to avoid the area.
