BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Authorities in Jasper arrested a man on murder charges in connection with the alleged killing of his stepfather and the critical injury of his mother during a shooting that occurred on Tuesday morning.
Nathaniel Anderson, 42, faced charges of murder and attempted murder following the report of a shooting at a residence on Devon Drive in Jasper. Police reported that they encountered 70-year-old Carol Minor fleeing the house, stating she had been shot. She informed officers that her husband, Ronald Minor, had been fatally shot inside the house.
In the aftermath of the shooting, police requested that nearby schools implement lockdown procedures while they searched for the suspect. Upon obtaining a warrant to enter the premises, officers discovered Anderson alive within the residence.
Carol Minor has been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
No motive has been established in the shooting.
Anderson is currently being held at the Walker County Jail.
