A Labor Day event in Brooklyn ended tragically with at least six individuals shot and another wounded with a knife in different incidents after the West Indian Day Parade, as reported by the NYPD.
The incidents of gun violence and stabbing occurred at four separate sites in Crown Heights as parade goers started to leave between the late afternoon and early evening hours, according to Fox 5 NY.
The initial report was logged at 5:35 p.m. near 1098 Eastern Parkway. Here, a woman in her 40s endured a graze wound on her back while a man in his 20s suffered a leg injury. Both victims were taken to the hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
Police are currently probing multiple shootings and a stabbing that resulted in injuries to seven individuals in Crown Heights following the closure of Monday’s West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn.
He was hospitalized in critical condition. A 40-year-old woman was also shot in the ankle and later arrived at the hospital in stable condition.
Police said a person of interest is in custody but offered no details about possible connections between the incidents.
The identities of the victims have also not been released, and no charges have been announced. The investigation is ongoing.
