OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – A newly introduced 34-question evaluation intended to filter out “woke” educators aiming to work in Oklahoma is nearly impossible to fail.

The test was created through a collaboration between the Oklahoma State Department of Education and PragerU, a conservative and Christian non-profit organization that lacks accreditation. According to a page on PragerU’s website, the Teacher Qualification Test is designed to oppose state-mandated training, such as that required in California, which PragerU argues diminishes the quality of the U.S. education system.

“Unless you’re a Marxist indoctrinator, this should not be very hard,” remarked State Superintendent Ryan Walters in a video related to the evaluation. “If your core intent is to enter a classroom to reshape young Americans’ minds into loathing this country and ignoring fundamental truths and common sense, then yes, we don’t want you in the classroom.”

The test predominantly focuses on American history, Biology, and parental rights; however, there is currently no need to study to pass the evaluation.

Shawn Ashley, who publishes the Oklahoma online legislative tracking and news service Quorum Call, highlighted the test’s flaw on social media Monday. He explained that after deliberately answering each question incorrectly, the test’s vulnerability became clear. The test consists of 34 multiple-choice questions, each with four potential answers. Ashley noted that even after choosing the three incorrect answers, the test still prompts the individual repeatedly until the right answer is selected. The evaluation then continues as if no wrong selections were made.

“After the third incorrect response, it allowed me a fourth attempt and offered the correct answer,” stated Ashley. “I completed all 34 questions this way and ultimately obtained the certificate of passage.”

affiliate KFOR employees tested the same method as Ashley and verified his account, earning the certificate regardless of whether any employee knew the answer to the question or not. The completion screen for the test also prompts the person taking the tests with multiple requests to donate to PragerU as either a one-time or monthly donation.

“It seems like it does defeat the purpose of what the test was designed to do, because you don’t have to know the information to ultimately get the answer right and to receive the certification,” said Ashley.

KFOR reached out to State Superintendent Ryan Walters office for comment Monday, but has not heard back.

KFOR also took questions from the assessment to a local park and interviewed Oklahomans to see whether or not they knew the answers. Two Oklahomans KFOR asked answered less than half of the questions correctly. They both expressed doubt about whether all of the questions asked were necessary for every out of state teacher in Oklahoma.
