Curtis remembered Reiner as “generous and kind, funny as hell and a friend to everyone.”
She continued, “We all miss Rob and Michele, along with everyone else we lost this year.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Curtis reflected on the responsibility she felt while honoring her late friends at the awards ceremony.
She said she “felt a responsibility to represent everyone — strangers, fans, colleagues, friends, close friends and family — in that moment at the Emmys. I was fine and happy to do it.”
However, the Freaky Frida star acknowledged that the tribute proved “a little tougher than I anticipated.”
“It was challenging enough to represent everyone and try to honor, particularly in this case, Rob’s passing. But I also have feelings of my own,” she said.

She said she did not yet know how the character would fit into the show or what direction the role would take.
Following Reiner and Michele’s deaths, Curtis and Christopher Guest released a joint statement.
“[We are] numb, sad and shocked by the violent and tragic deaths of our dear friends Rob and Michele Singer Reiner. Our only focus and care right now is for their children and immediate families, and we will offer every possible support to help them.”
“There will be plenty of time later to discuss the creative lives we shared and the tremendous political and social impact they both had on the entertainment industry, early childhood development, the fight for gay marriage and their global efforts to care for a world in crisis.”
Curtis and Guest concluded, “We have lost great friends. Please give us time to grieve.”
