Texas A&M regents demand audit of all courses after transgender lesson controversy

The Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System issued a statement on Wednesday announcing an audit of all courses following an incident in which a student was allegedly expelled from a class for questioning the content related to transgender topics.

“The actions that compromise the integrity of our institutions will not be tolerated,” stated the school system. “The Board has urged swift measures to prevent a recurrence of this week’s events. Consequently, the Regents have requested the Chancellor to perform a thorough audit of all courses to ensure they adhere to all legal requirements.”

On Monday, Texas state Representative Brian Harrison, a Republican, posted a video on X, which he claimed showed a Texas A&M student being asked to leave class for challenging transgender content.

The video featured a female student interrupting the lecturer, questioning the legality of teaching gender ideology, and referencing executive orders from former President Donald Trump.

Fox News Digital reached out to Texas A&M University for a response and was directed to a statement made by university President Mark A. Welsh III, which he discussed in a post on Texas A&M’s X account on Monday.

“This afternoon I became aware that leading figures in the College of Arts and Sciences sanctioned course materials that contradicted the course’s official description,” Welsh stated. “Consequently, I instructed the provost to relieve the dean and department head of their administrative duties, effective immediately.”

“Our students use the published information in the course catalog to make important decisions about the courses they take in pursuit of their degrees. If we allow different course content to be taught from what is advertised, we let our students down. When it comes to our academic offerings, we must keep our word to our students and to the state of Texas.”

Glenn Hegar, the chancellor of the Texas A&M University System, issued his own statement Tuesday, saying, “I commend President Welsh on the action he has taken to terminate a faculty member who failed to follow instructions to align her course description with the actual content of her class.

“His action shows insubordination and indoctrination have no place on our campus or in our classrooms,” Hegar added.
