Chris Martin STOPS concert to send love to Charlie Kirk's family

Chris Martin has garnered backlash from some fans after he halted his concert at Wembley Stadium to send love to Charlie Kirk’s family.

The 48-year-old Coldplay singer, whose band is embarking on a record-breaking 225-date world tour, urged fans to honor the late political activist during the group’s final show at Wembley Stadium on Friday by raising their hands.

Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday when he was fatally shot in the neck while speaking to students at Utah Valley University.

In a now-viral clip on X, Martin addressed the crowd of 80,000 people, urging, ‘For the last time in several years in London, let’s raise our hands and send love wherever you want in the world.’

The Viva La Vida hitmaker then placed his hands into the air, with most of the audience doing the same.

‘There are so many places that could use it today. So, here it comes from London. Send this to your brother or sister, to the families of those facing terrible times. You can even send it to Charlie Kirk’s family.’

The star continued, ‘You can send it to anyone’s family. You can send it to people you disagree with, but you send them love anyway.

‘Send it to the peaceful people in the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Sudan, and Somalia. Anywhere you think could use love from London.’

Martin then began to count down from five as the crowd held their hands up into the air before beginning to play another song from the band’s set.

Fans jumped to the comment section of the reel to offer their differing thoughts on the singer asking the crowd to ‘send love’ to Kirk’s family.

Some applauded the performer with one penning, ‘Wow. I’m actually impressed,’ and another said, ‘Coldplay with the W recently.’

‘It’s nice to see Coldplay be rational and show kindness towards Charlie Kirk and his family. I know they are leftists, but at least they aren’t vile,’ a fan wrote.

Another added, ‘Chris Martin’s gesture puts the focus on compassion,’ while one typed out, ‘So glad he said that.’

‘Respect!’ an X user shared, while another commented, ‘That’s powerful. When someone like Chris Martin pauses a massive show to call for compassion, it reminds us that grief should unite us not divide us.’

'You can send this to your brother or sister, you can send it to the families of people who've been going through terrible stuff. You can send it to Charlie Kirk's family,' the singer said; seen in July in Toronto

However, other fans weren’t happy with the singer’s actions and one shared, ‘LMFAO guess I’m done with coldplay.’

‘Time to cancel Coldplay,’ another commented, and a social media user also added, ‘We lost another real one… chris why on earth would you give that man any grace.’

One said, ‘yeah, because nothing says ‘humanity’ like a millionaire telling people to send love to someone else’s family while he’s up on stage making bank.’

Coldplay was on its Music of the Spheres World Tour which officially came to an end at Wembley Stadium in London on Friday.

Martin’s message to the crowd comes shortly after he was accused of ‘dehumanizing’ Jewish fans who were booed for being Israeli on stage during a performance at Wembley Stadium.

Earlier this week on Wednesday, Kirk was fatally shot in the neck while speaking to students on the campus of Utah Valley University.

A number of Hollywood stars reacted to the political activist’s death on social media such as Chris Pratt, his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger and Mandy Moore.

Following a man hut for the shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, and obstruction of justice.

Kirk is survived by his wife Erika as well as their two children: a three-year-old daughter and a son, one.

The widow of the Turning Point USA co-founder vowed to continue her late husband’s legacy during an emotional broadcast on Friday.

Kirk had been on his American Comeback tour before his tragic passing this week and Erika promised that, ‘There will be even more tours in the years to come.’

She continued, ‘It will be greater than ever. The radio and podcast show that he was so proud of will go on.’

The mother-of-two also promised to remember Kirk as a ‘martyr’ and expressed, ‘Charlie will stand at his savior’s side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr.’

Erika also tearfully said, ‘He loved his life. He loved America. He loved nature, which helped him always bring him closer to God. He loved the Chicago Cubs and, my goodness, did he love the Oregon Ducks.

‘Most of all, Charlie loved his children, and he loved me with all of his heart, and I knew that every day.’

Following her address, Erika posted to her Instagram account as she mourned the loss of her husband.

‘The world is evil. But our Savior. Our Lord. Our God. Не…Не is so good. I will never have the words. Ever,’ she penned in the caption.

‘The sound of this widow weeping echos throughout this world like a battle cry. I have no idea what any of this means. But baby I know you do and so does our Lord.’

Erika continued, ‘They have no idea what they just ignited within this wife. If they thought my husband’s mission was big now..you have no idea. You. All of you. Will never. Ever. Forget my husband @charliekirk1776 I’ll make sure of it.

‘Rest in the arms of our Lord baby as he blankets you with the words I know your heart always strived to hear, “well done My good and faithful servant.”‘
