Individuals affected by a Perth builder’s bankruptcy are being advised to contact their insurers.

Liquidators have been appointed to dissolve the Tingey Development Group, resulting in numerous unfinished homes.

Perth couple Simon and Sheri Davies have been waiting a long time to live in their dream home and now have newfound hope it may finally be built.

Meanwhile, the couple had to cover both their mortgage and rent, costing them thousands of dollars.

“We wanted to start a family earlier, but since we’re living in a short-term rental, there’s no stability,” Sheri explained.

The government has recently been informed of two complaints regarding the company.

It’s the third building contractor in WA to face insolvency in a matter of just a few months.

Tingey’s liquidation comes with some positive news, though.

It means customers now have a pathway forward to make a claim under home indemnity insurance and get a new builder.

However, the industry is still struggling with a shortage of skilled workers in the state.

9News has contacted the Tingey Development Group for comment.
