As many mourn the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, news has surfaced that his friend, the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, will be hosting Monday morning and attempting to fill the significant void left by Charlie’s passing.

“Please join me as I pay tribute to my friend,” the VP wrote:

Tomorrow, I will have the honor of hosting the Charlie Kirk Show. Please join me as I pay tribute to my friend.

Vance had also eulogized his compatriot in a long, moving post to social media after the senseless killing.

Some years ago, likely in 2017, I joined Tucker Carlson on his Fox show discussing something I scarcely recall. After the show, a name I barely recognized sent a Twitter DM congratulating me on my performance. That name was Charlie Kirk, and his simple act of kindness sparked a friendship that lasted until today.

While in a meeting at the West Wing, I began receiving messages alerting me that Charlie was in their prayers. That’s how I learned about my friend being shot. I prayed extensively as both hopeful and grim updates came in hour by hour.

God didn’t respond to those prayers, and that’s alright. He had other plans. Now that Charlie is in heaven, I’ll request him to speak directly to the higher power for his family, friends, and the nation he cherished so deeply.

You ran a good race, my friend.

They had become friends even before the now VP was chosen by Trump.

Vance and Kirk were close friends for many years – long before the now-VP was even involved in politics.

Kirk was among the first people I contacted when deciding to pursue a US Senate seat in 2021. He helped connect me with influential individuals who would impact my campaign, including Donald Trump Jr.

He added that Kirk was one of his most dedicated advocates over the years, and even guided Trump’s VP selection until they landed on Vance.
