TELFORD, Tenn. (WJHL) – Local 4-H students have been hard at work raising chickens, and now those chickens are ready to be sold.

If you have a coop, head out to the 4-H Tri-County Chicken Sale that is happening Saturday at WJ Auction Company, starting at 10 a.m.

The address is 2744 Andrew Johnson Highway in Telford.

The chickens sold are raised from 2 days to egg-laying maturity by 4-H students in the chick-chain program.

Melissa Shelton and Makayla Phipps appeared on Good Morning Tri-Cities to discuss the advantages of raising and owning chickens, as well as the responsibilities involved in their care.
