DHS appears to remove video featuring Theo Von after comedian tells them to 'take this down'

(The Hill) – The Department of Homeland Security seems to have taken down a social media post that included a clip of comedian Theo Von, after Von expressed disapproval, stating he had not agreed to be included in a video promoting the agency’s deportation initiatives.

In the video, posted by DHS on Tuesday, Von is shown looking into the camera and saying, “I heard you got deported, dude. Bye.”

The brief clip features ICE officials arresting and deporting immigrants who are in the country illegally, urging others still in the country to “leave now.”

“Yooo DHS I didn’t approve to be used in this,” Von remarked in a social media response to the video. “I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos.”

Von continued, “when it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot [sic] more nuanced than this video allows. Bye!”

In a response to a fan on X, Von further commented, “It’s crazy to me that they would think this is OK. What if someone attacks me tomorrow because they think I’m some final boss of deportations or something.”

By late Wednesday, DHS appeared to have removed the video from its social media platforms. A representative for the agency did not provide an immediate comment upon request.

Von, who also hosts “This Past Weekend” podcast, frequently interviews celebrities, musicians, and other well-known figures, but he has also openly discussed political and cultural topics in the past. President Trump and Vice President JD Vance have separately joined episodes of his podcast, as has Bernie Sanders.

Von also attended the inauguration of President Trump in Jan. 2025, where his folding chair broke underneath him.
