ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — An Orlando resident received a six-year federal prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release after being found guilty of providing false statements to the FBI linked to an international terrorism investigation.

The Department of Justice announced that Islam Doci, 47, was sentenced by a judge after admitting to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation during an interview regarding the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). He entered a guilty plea on Oct. 15, 2024.

Per Doci’s plea deal and evidence presented at his sentencing, Doci had engaged in promoting ISIS propaganda online, communicating with members of the group, transferring funds to himself abroad to support the organization, and aiding others in sending money to ISIS.

The Justice Department release mentioned that Doci shared a pro-ISIS post online that read: “If Islam is terrorism, then O God give me more of this terrorism until the day I die. If Islam is radicalism, then O God give me more of this radicalism until the day I die.”

Additionally, the release said that Doci celebrated the killing of Americans and provided financial support to ISIS for war.

Doci was interviewed by the FBI on two occasions concerning these activities, during which he denied any involvement and support of the terrorist group.
